Share your thoughts, Gizzy! Trust Tairāwhiti invites the community to participate in the fourth annual Tairāwhiti Wellbeing Survey (TWS), now live on the Tairāwhiti Data website.

This year’s campaign has a refreshed look and feel, with new visuals showcasing iconic Tairāwhiti landmarks, symbols and bold new messaging designed to connect with our region’s growing rangatahi population. Campaign messaging features phrases like “Big mood: Wellbeing,” “Having your say = main character energy,” and “Spill the tea, Tairāwhiti.” You might also spot familiar touches of Gizzy Kiwiana, from a lone redband gumboot to a ‘State Highway 35’ sticker woven throughout the campaign’s advertising, social media and the Tairāwhiti Data website.

Each year, the TWS builds comprehensive local data about how we’re doing as a region and what matters most to our communities. The data is benchmarked against the Trust’s wellbeing framework, He Rangitapu He Tohu Ora, and is made freely available as a resource for local and national organisations and communities.

While national surveys such as Statistics NZ’s General Social Survey (NZGSS) provide useful comparisons, their smaller sample size for Tairāwhiti does not fully capture our region's unique needs and perspectives. The TWS ensures that local voices are heard and that decision-making reflects our people's lived experiences.

Responses are anonymous, ensuring privacy while contributing to a robust picture of regional wellbeing. The results guide the Trust’s investment decisions and operations, while also providing a foundation for others working to improve outcomes across the region.

The survey takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete and is available in English, Te Reo Māori and Tongan.
