About the opportunity
The ideal candidate will confidently engage across a range of sectors, providing community, hapu and iwi groups with advice and guidance around the Trust’s strategic priorities and regional wellbeing framework, He Rangitapu He Tohu Ora. There is plenty of variety in the role. You will get to meet with passionate and dedicated groups and individuals who are committed to achieving the best outcomes for our communities. You’ll need to make the most of every engagement and then apply the TT logic and systems to ensure alignment.
Working closely with the General Manager Communities will be key until you settle in the role, but support and professional development opportunities will be ongoing. You will have significant oversight of the Trust’s community distribution programme which requires managing the engagement process, initial application assessments and analysis of proposals against He Rangitapu He Tohu Ora. A good standard of report writing is important!
You will proactively and intuitively develop programmes, events, and activities that support the delivery of the Trust’s strategic priorities.
About you
Fundamental to your success in this role will be your understanding of our regional wellbeing framework, He Rangitapu He Tohu Ora. You will be experienced in developing and managing relationships across the region and nationally as required. You will be conscientious with meeting timelines, a clear communicator and drive our organisation culture of Tairāwhiti Tuturu. You will support community development activities for the Trust and provide engagement insights to support the wider Trust work programmes.
Excellent attention to detail, proficient administration skills, as well as being a team player will be awesome attributes for this role.
We are looking for an administration professional with:
- A relevant qualification and/or experience in community, hapū, iwi development, social policy, or a related field.
- Knowledge and experience in community-led and iwi/hapū-led development.
- The ability to confidently engage and build trusted relationships with whānau, hapū, iwi, and wider communities.
- Cultural competency in te ao Māori and a strong understanding of Tairāwhititanga.
- Proficiency in te reo Māori me ōna tikanga.
- Demonstrated ability to embody and practise Trust Tairāwhiti values and uphold the principles of Waharoa (equity, integrity in relation to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and sustainability).
- Proven stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills across diverse communities.
- Experience working with complex concepts, frameworks, and kaupapa Māori approaches.
- Excellent time management, coordination, and organisational skills.
- Applied understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its practical implementation in your mahi.
- Deep understanding and passion for the people, environment, and economy of Te Tairāwhiti, with a focus on intergenerational wellbeing.
- Familiarity with Tākina te kawa, (our Statement of Intent) the role of Trust Tairāwhiti, and the He Rangitapu He Tohu Ora
- Understanding and/or experience in the principles and practice of project management.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- An ability to see the bigger picture, with a continuous improvement approach to your work.
- Must have at least intermediate computer skills (MS Suite).
