As the Regional Tourism Organisation, Trust Tairāwhiti is engaging with stakeholders and the wider community to develop its Destination Management Plan (DMP).

A DMP sets out a strategic pathway for tourism development to ensure Tairāwhiti is a thriving visitor destination for the benefit of our communities.

The Trust will hold a series of public online sessions to better understand community aspirations for what the visitor economy could do for our people and place.

"We would like to get as many local people as possible jump on these online Zoom sessions to contribute to our DMP," says Acting Regional Tourism Manager Holly Hatzilamprou.

"It's important we bring together all voices from our community, as well as our regional partners to ensure the benefits of tourism are spread across the entire region.

"The DMP will outline a vision, strategic direction and clear actions to take into the future of the Tairāwhiti destination."

Anyone who takes part in the online consultation sessions will go in the draw to win one of five $100 grocery vouchers.

There are three online sessions:

  • Tuesday 1 March, 1pm to 3pm
  • Wednesday 2 March, 5.30pm to 7.30pm
  • Thursday 3 March, 10am to 12pm.
