We are seeking an experienced Communications Advisor to support the planning and delivery of communications activities across our core functions as Community Trust, Economic Development Agency and Regional Tourism Organisation.

Reporting to the Communications and Media Manager, this position will provide quality, compelling written content across multiple platforms, helping inform our communities, businesses, and stakeholders about Trust activities and opportunities. It will support the implementation of the Trust’s communications strategy and help our teams achieve the best outcomes for the region.

 

Responsibilities include:

Communications

  • Support the Communications and Media Manager to implement the Trust’s Communications Strategy.
  • Plan and deliver communications content and collateral, including written and multi-media.
  • Provide assistance with comms planning and executions to support projects, campaigns and BAU activities across the organisation.
  • Work with internal teams to develop comms collateral ensuring the outcome achieves what was asked for.
  • Support the delivery of the Trust’s Statement of Intent, Annual Report and other key documents.
  • Enhance the organisation’s brand by looking for and acting on opportunities to tell stories of the Trust’s impact and successes.

 

Social media content development

  • Support the Communications and Media Manager to implement the Trust’s Communications Strategy.
  • Plan and deliver communications content and collateral, including written and multi-media.

Media

 Support the Communications and Media Manager with responding to media enquiries and information requests.

 

Engagement and stakeholder relationships

 Work with internal teams to plan and support engagement activities and events across the organisation.

  • Support the Communications and Media Manager to implement activities within the Trust’s Engagement Plan.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

 

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • A communications/journalism or similar tertiary qualification at degree level.
  • 2+ year’s experience working in communications, journalism or marketing.
  • A strong writing and editorial skill set, including experience writing fit-for-purpose content targeted to specific audiences in appropriate channels.
  • Experience in planning and implementing communications/marketing campaigns.
  • Experience in social media content creation based on best practice.
  • Stakeholder engagement skills and experience.
  • A high level of cultural competency, respecting Te Ao Māori and its principles (Tikanga).
