About the role

As the Destination Development Advisor, you'll be a champion for tourism in Tairāwhiti, empowering businesses of all sizes. In this role, you'll become a trusted advisor as you collaborate with established and emerging product owners across the entire visitor experience – from accommodation and activities to cultural experiences, hospitality, retail, and transportation. Your role extends beyond supporting individual businesses. You'll be a key advocate for showcasing the region’s unique offerings.  You'll identify exciting new tourism products and experiences, ensuring they're integrated into regional marketing channels. Your understanding of regional initiatives will be crucial in strategically positioning both new and established products for maximum visibility.

You will be a bridge between businesses, industry organisations, and government agencies, creating a collaborative and trusting environment across the entire sector.  Your passion for Tairāwhiti will extend to advocating for the visitor economy at regional and national levels.  Additionally, you'll work with partners to translate the aspirations outlined in the Destination Management Plan (DMP) into action. This might involve conducting research, facilitating workshops, or developing action plans to bring these aspirations to life.  By taking on these multifaceted responsibilities, you'll play a vital role in driving Tairāwhiti forward as a thriving and sustainable visitor destination.
